When we booked JR’s Smokehouse BBQ for our wedding party, we knew it was going to be good, but not THAT good! It was a pleasure to watch Joel ‘do his thing’ during the day while he cooked up our feast, and everyone enjoyed the tantalising BBQ smells emanating from his BBQ trailer. All of our guests had very generous servings of amazing food; in particular, the perfectly-cooked brisket was a hit! Joel’s staff were friendly and helpful, and they got everything cleaned up quickly and discretely. Our Smokehouse BBQ dinner was the highlight of our wedding party and everyone was talking about how great it was well into the night and for days afterwards! We cannot recommend Smokehouse BBQ enough, thanks for being such a great dude to deal with throughout Joel!

We chose JR’s Smokehouse to cater our Staff End of Year Lunch after we tasted their award winning brisket at the 2013 Sample Festival. We loved the Big BBQ Combo menu which was incredible in taste and size. Comments among the staff were that they could not pick their favourite dish and that it was the best idea for a staff lunch in years! The meal service was slick and organised and there was an abundance of food. In fact, Joel encouraged everyone to have seconds – for the few who had room! The first time we had JRs was at the Sample Food Festival in Bangalow. From the moment we ate that amazing pulled pork sandwich we both decided that one day when we get married that’s who we were getting to do our catering. We were married New Year’s Day this year. From the moment I first contacted Joel right up until he & Simone were finished cleaning up at the end of the night, they where so professional & very attentive, even showing up New Year’s Eve so they could start cooking first thing in the morning. Now the FOOD WOW, we had the full BBQ menu & I’m so glad we got to experience everything, my sister actually unzipped the back of her dress so she could make more room for food. And asking everyone the next morning what their favorite thing was, was like starting a parliamentary style argument. “the brisket was best, no the chicken, no the pulled pork, the ribs, the ribs,” & the sauces YUM. We settled the argument by getting out the left overs so everyone could have more 🙂 . I HIGHLY recommend JR’s Smokehouse BBQ simply because they are the best at what they do, you will not find better service & nor will you find better BBQ.
You guys really did make our day that little bit more special & different for our guests. They are still talking about that amazing BBQ at Emma & Aaron’s wedding.

Hey Joel, Thank you so much for the awesome food… everybody was super stoked and raving about it for days… a heap of us got together the next day with a carton of Pacific ale and got stuck in to the leftovers and it was still amazing!!! I still have the BBQ sauce in my fridge here and having been having it on everything I can. All the food was really great but your brisket was off the hook. You guys are awesome, everything about the experience was top notch, and I will whole heartedly recommend you to anyone that is after catering for an event.

“Austin in Coolangatta” This place is as good as it gets. I’ve eaten at the best Barbecues in Central Texas, both in Austin and the fabled ones in Lockhart, and JR’s is an asset to the Gold Coast. I took my Aussie mate here on 30th June, 2016 and he loved it. The service is excellent, smiling and efficient. Can’t wait to go back on my next trip to the Gold Coast. My only wish is that one day they will serve lunch, even if only once a week.

We were recommended to JR's by a close friend and wow are we glad we were! We have loved their food at pop-up markets but their wedding buffet options sounded incredible and the results far surpassed our expectations. From setting up the slow smoking at our venue from 4:30am up until the end of food and plate clearing Joel and his team are truly a professional and fun organisation. The food was ridiculously delicious, so much so people are still saying it was the best wedding food they have ever had weeks later! Everyone was well fed, Joel catered for any Vegetarians and Gluten Free and the spread of meats, salads and sides had everyone's mouth watering not to mention all the leftovers we had for days later which was just awesome. JR’s was perfect, we searched long and hard for a food vendor for our wedding and couldn’t be happier with our choice. Joel was extremely helpful when it came to selecting a menu and quantities
for our guests and was just an all round legend with everything ! His staff were just as amazing, with super bright smiles and an eagerness to make our day the best it could be! We met with Joel the day prior to go through the schedule and on the day he arrived with the sun unnoticed by anyone until the amazing smells of his meat trinity filled the valley we were married in. Come the reception and our guests couldn’t stop talking about the food including the vegetarian s who loved their smoked beetroot main course! They didnt stop talking about it for weeks after the wedding either! Not surprising given it is possibly the best Brisket we’ve ever had (and we’ve traveled the "BBQ Belt" in the states). Once Joel and his staff had finished service and tidied up, he packed our left overs in a fridge we arranged prior and disappeare d into the night like the BBQ angel he is! Our only regret is not being able to thank him and his staff in person for their amazing food and service on the night! Just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and your team for catering our wedding at Cowbell Creek. If there is one thing people remember about our wedding, I can tell you it was the food! We have had so many compliments on how delicious it was, as well as the generous servings. Our family sure loved all the leftovers too. Fed quite a few of us for another few meals! It was great to have such a professional team serving it all up on time, and being so friendly. So thank you, and I could not recommend you enough for anyone looking to have someone cater an event!

Not only can do achieve anything but being of Texan & Mexican background I can vouch for the fact that the beautiful fare on offer is 200% authentic Texan smokehouse and Mexican and mind blowing . JR’s smokehouse are the first team we think of when we have a special occasion as everything they put out is extraordinarily delicious using gorgeous , well-considered, local ingredients. They provide a seamless , friendly and elegant service. They have generously served a party we had with over 200 guests and also another for 100-something guests and they never leave Our coolrooms empty so we can enjoy this beautiful food for days. The whole set-up of the smokehouse is such a delight to see as well as their styling of every item for every occasion. All of the above and the value for what you receive is also extraordinary. We had JR’s Smokehouse Barbecue cater our wedding. The food was fantastic. The brisket especially was just delicious. So many guests were coming to tell us how much they enjoyed it. Some were amazed when we told them the meats are slow cooked for 14 hours. Joel was so helpful through the planning process. We had date changes, venue changes and multiple guest number changes but nothing was a problem for the team. It was so lovely to meet you all and have all your friendly faces serving the food. “WOW.” The words I spoke after having my first mouthful of melt in your mouth brisket at our wedding. This was truly the BEST food I have ever had. It was huge portions, the most tender meat I have ever tasted and beautiful salad!!! We had a large 165-person wedding that brought together two cultures - the choice of food to serve on our wedding day was a highly considered decision. Booking JR's Smokehouse was quite possibly the best thing we ever did!!! Not only was Joel incredible in the lead up, extremely responsive and genuinely kind, his teams service on our day was absolutely amazing and the food was like nothing else!!! Guests were commenting all night about how it was the best food they’ve ever had and I couldn’t agree more!!!! It absolutely exceeded all expectations (which were already high)! I am craving the tender beef brisket as I type this. Thank you so so so much Joel and the team for making our wedding day truly perfect and for feeding our large guest list (with lots of different dietary requirements!!). You made our day perfect and I will remember the delicious food for the rest of my life!
